Deleterious effect of altered myocardial fatty acid metabolism in kidney disease.

چکیده
etabolic adaptation likely represents one of the earliest esponses to myocardial ischemia. The myocardium preferntially oxidizes free fatty acids for energy production. owever, the dependency of fatty acid metabolism on xygen makes this process particularly vulnerable to ischeia. Under hypoxemic or ischemic conditions, the energy equirements of the myocardium are met by glucose rather han free fatty acids. Furthermore, recovery of fatty acid etabolism after myocardial ischemia lags behind restoraion of perfusion, resulting in the phenomenon of “metaolic stunning.” This decrease in fatty acid utilization ollowing ischemia can be imaged with fatty acid radiotracrs, particularly -methyl iodophenyl-pentadecanoic acid BMIPP), which demonstrate markedly limited metabolism

Effect of Helicteres isora Bark Extract on Protein Metabolism and Marker Enzymes in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats
The present study investigated the possible protective effect of Helicteres isora (Sterculiaceae) bark extracts on certain biochemical markers in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in rats. STZ treatment (60 mg/kg/i.p) caused a hyperglycemic state that led to various physiological and biochemical alterations. Blood levels of glucose, urea, uric acid and creatinine, plasma levels of albumin a...

متن کاملExercise training has restorative potential on myocardial energy metabolism in rats with chronic heart failure
Objective(s): Exercise training is a well-known accelerator for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF). The current study aimed to investigate the restorative effects of aerobic interval training (AIT) intervention on myocardial energy metabolism in CHF rats. Materials and Methods: Post-myocardial infarction (MI) heart failure animal model was established. The Sprague-Dawley rats were ran...
متن کاملInhibition of 5-Lipoxygenase inhibitor zileuton in high-fat diet-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease progression model
Objective(s): Arachidonic Acid/5-lipoxygenase (AA/5-LOX) pathway connects lipid metabolism and proinflammatory cytokine, which are both related to the development and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Therefore, the present study was designed to investigate the role of AA/5-LOX pathway in progression of NAFLD, and the effect of zileuton, an inhibitor of 5-LOX, in this mod...
متن کاملFree fatty acid oxidation in insulin resistance and obesity.
The growing worldwide epidemic of obesity and diabetes portends a significant increase in cardiovascular disease. Obesity is associated with insulin resistance, and there is growing evidence that these conditions independently increase the risk of heart failure. Changes in myocardial substrate utilization develop in obesity and insulin resistance, and are characterized by increased fatty acid o...
